Time To Sperr
 
The committee of Sperr Memorial Park would like to thank everyone involved in the 3rd annual "TIME TO SPERR" run/walk August 27, 2011 at the park.  Without the support of sponors and help from volunteers this event would not have taken place.
 
The 4th annual Time To Sperr event will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012.  We are hoping that this year the run will be bigger and better than ever!  Tell your family and friends and make a day of it.
 
Time to Sperr has been organized by Sue and Jim Derick of Big Flats, who are both marathon runners.  Both races start at the monument site and end on the rails to trails path.  Runners in the 10k race will cross over I-86, and their course will take them past Sikorsky Hawk Works and through residential neighborhoods.  Runners in the 3K event will travel along the town walking trail.  See PDF files below of the course maps below.
 
All proceeds from the race will go toward maintenance and improvements at the park.  In 2011 we were able to complete the following improvements to the park thanks to last years fund raising event:
  • New concrete bases under several picnic tables and benches around the park.
  • Three new spring rides on the playground.
  • Re-surfacing of the walking trail around the pond .
  • The addition of several new flower beds around the park.
